Last night I made some more brown soda bread. I fancied a nice soup to go with it, but didn't fancy anything ready made from the supermarket. I found a simple recipe for a quick Smoked Haddock Chowder on the BBC Good Food website. It took me just over an hour to prepare. The recipe is very easy; I just adjusted it a little to suit my taste... 4 bay leaves, a bit of salt and a good amount of freshly ground pepper.I recommend it!
One for sorrow, Two for joy, Three for a girl, Four for a boy. Five for silver, Six for gold, Seven for a secret never to be told. Eight for a wish, Nine for a kiss, Ten a surprise you should be careful not to miss. Eleven for health, Twelve for wealth, Thirteen beware it's the devil himself.
Little girls, this seems to say, never stop upon your way, never trust a stranger friend, no one knows how it will end! As you're pretty, so be wise! Wolves may lurk in every guise! Now, as then, it's simple truth, sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth!
