TOAD IN THE HOLE!

Andy is from York and he has given me his mum's original recipe for "Toad In The Hole". I had Yorkshire pudding before, but I've never made it at home. I've always thought it would have been really hard and messy. I've also never had "Toad In The Hole". Today the weather was cold and rather unstable. I also had a lot of things to tidy up in the house, so I decided to stay in and give Andy's recipe a go.

It came out really well. I served it with mash potato and gravy. Very English and perfect if you fancy some comfort food. It is quite easy and quick to make.
Here's the recipe. These ingredients are for 4 people.
  • 1/2 of milk
  • 4oz of flour
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 8 English pork sausages
  • butter
  • a pinch of salt
  • pepper (this was not on the original recipe)

Preheat your oven at 2ooC (I have a fan oven). Grease a baking tin with butter and put it in the oven, so that the fat becomes very hot. Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl and make a well in the centre. Add the beaten eggs and some milk. Beat to a smooth batter, gradually adding the remainder of milk. Add salt and pepper. Brown the sausages and put them in the hot baking tin. Then pour the batter mix over. Bake for 30 minutes.

Yes, that easy! I can see some ears in the background... I think even Torakiki wanted some :)

  1. Oh I haven't seen Torakiki for a while. Will be there next week! Looks good! I made TitH once too and was surprised by how easy it was.
